Nuggets.

Once in a while you see me posting thoughts, expressions, sayings, and words of wisdom. I read those lines from the pages I dearly digest for my sanity and hear those lines from the people whom I think are inspiring for our everyday lives. Well, those posts are what I call Penny for your Thoughts.

While doing my usual routine at work, I stumbled upon one nugget in my ‘work planner’ (I have a separate personal planner – OC much?). Little type here and share in Facebook; Viola! I imagined this would be a good post if I collate these nuggets and incorporate some sense from me (Though I don’t think it would make such a difference haha!).

1.       Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don’t recognize them – Amen. When I began to realize I was sort of ambitious, I kept on telling myself, “Just wait, I’ll have that opportunity!” only to realize that during the moment when I was engaged in work, the chance to explore new horizon was present. If only I did my 101% best during that time, then my effort should have gained more and will result in unlocking a new experience. Similar to this, I often hear people remark, “Oh, if I have the opportunity to work abroad. I will definitely grab it”. Ponder on this; you have given your best and consistent performance at work. High chances are, your boss will recommend you to a better position than where you are now (Think of it as a step closer to getting overseas).

2.       Doubt grows with knowledge – Remember when we were just kids and we often ask questions. Why does the moon appear only at night? Why is there somebody always following us (Referring to shadows)? We were already contented with their explanations; in reality though we never understood them. That was back then. I think if you have prior and proper knowledge about something, and when you doubt about something, questions just does not end with ‘why’. Doubting about an unclear idea will increase, because you know there some rational, logical, scientific reason to it. Think, Sherlock Holmes (Hi Robert Downey, Jr.!).

3.       The father of every good work is discontent, and its mother is diligence – You may not be a perfectionist per se; chances are you still want your hard work to be something you are proud of. Discontentment should not be shun, rather observe which areas in your life you are not satisfied. If it is about the output of your work, girl you have to work it out. Being paid means constantly delivering results which not only benefit your company; it should contribute substantially to your skills.

4.       Sometimes the best way to convince someone he is wrong is to let him have his way – I often say this to my sister who as much as I want, would stop and listen to my lectures: The best teacher is experience.

5.       Life is the art of drawing sufficient conclusions from insufficient premises – We all have our motto in life which we derived from something of great importance to us. It may come from a very spectacular despair you experienced or something as a complicated relationship. But it only takes a pure laughter from a child, a beautiful sunrise, and a simple hug from a friend to understand that your life is wonderful.

Hope this adds a dose of inspiration for you!

Misleading Incident.

We as consumers are often misled into taking actions which in the end, benefit the seller but makes the buyer regret his purchase. As someone who has studied the principles of marketing, I think those who are in direct contact with the buyers should pay keen attention as to what they are saying and how they present the items to the consumers. They must also be aware that customers though with one agenda – to buy, will and always be different from one another.

Why am I saying this? An incident happened last weekend which led to buying something that is not really what the consumer wants. It is not something as screaming fraud, in case you’re wondering. I will not elaborate on the details. I just hope that they will re-think their tactic in selling clothes and as far as I am concerned, no misleading promotions.

'til next post.

That Added Height.

In our house, heels are something you will occasionally see. The heels I have usually lasts me eons haha; which by the way is only three pairs. Kidding aside, since I was still studying back then my ultimate comfort shoes are flats and flip-flops. I think most girls would agree with me.

Yes, I do dream of walking in those 5-inch killer stilettos. However, my legs just could not stand wearing those type of shoes for more than two hours and given my kuripot nature, well you know already haha. Plus the idea of where-am-I-supposed-to-wear-it always pops into my subconsciousness. Well, thank you for events. A new addition to our shoe family came when my sister needed some boost for her special night.

We went to a nearby mall late in the afternoon. My mom was in no mood for shopping so the task was handed to me: find that perfect pair of dress and shoes for my sister (I will not post about the dress since I still haven't taken a decent photo of it). Off we go.

While my sister was already fitting some clothes, I went about just looking at some heels which were marked 30%-ish off. Bingo! Something caught my eye.

You have to make sure that it won't be a slippery stride!

Need to check the details when buying. Though a little glue will do the trick.

Rawr!
Did I say that these looked lovely and hot at the same time?

I am happy to announce that we have at least 5 pairs of heels in our house today haha.

'til next post.
