Bakit nga ba?

Nowadays, whenever I chance upon watching television (I rarely watch television. I know, I know. But we don't have cable LOL) this commercial would catch my attention. It's one of those ads that makes you say, "Ah, now this is what you call an advertisement!".

I was at BDJ Rendezvous I Dream Therefore I Can!

"A for Ace Water Spa...
     B for the Bellas...
         C for cool exciting games...."

Another impressive event from my best planner used so far - Belle de Jour. I was lucky to be on of the participants of BDJ Rendezvous I Dream Therefore I can. In order to be invited to the event, Bellas must answer a simple question and they would only get 25 girls. Counting from the very first girl who answered, I was the 30th or so. Days after, I received an e-mail stating I am one of the participants. Now isn't that luck.

The very first BDJ event I attended was last year at Venice Piazza, during the launching of the 2011 planner. Together with my friend I really enjoyed the said occasion and vowed that I will attend to all, if not at least most events/seminars/party that BDJ will be organizing. This time the venue was at the newly opened Ace Water Spa in Pasig (Good thing it's in Pasig. It's just 30 minutes away from home :) Besides I wanted to see this new recreational place because I'm always curious like this). Arriving at the venue (in late fashion LOL) I saw that there were other events being held in there - the opening of Ace Water Spa and Bert Lozada's Swimming Competition (though I'm not sure if it's really a competition).

Upon entering the event venue (I reiterate, in uber late fashion hahaha), it was already lunch time so I missed the first speaker. I quietly slipped at the back where a kind Bella offered a seat beside her. I should have looked like a lost child or something haha. As the host was explaining some stuff, I managed to grab some food and gorged  munch on them while getting myself familiar with the event.

Since I arrived during lunch time, everyone was busy with their food. To perk things up, Strip Manila hosted a game - a very eye-opener (literal) game I'll say.

After the endless giggles from the daring game, the second speaker Ms. Jill shared to us her personal experience on living out her passion. It was a very enriching experience listening to her. Best lesson/s learned from Ms. Jill? Fear is the number one opponent you need to face in order to do what you love. Act even if you are alone, in that way, you'll be able to connect to everyone. I wish to attend one of her classes someday.

The last speaker was none other than Ms. Bianca Valero herself. As soon as she stepped inside, I can feel every head turn to gaze at her. What a stunner! I took into heart what she said about our image. We "sell" ourselves everyday to hundreds of different people, so it's an important factor to make an effort to look good. One of the best lesson I learned from Ms. Bianca is the idea of playing up your proportions. Our whole body is our asset, and if you know your proportions, you can enhance it further more. After the event I followed her on twitter :)

BDJ never misses out on the x-factor. The prizes. Every participant went home with something in their hands. As for me, these are some of the stuff I got :)

I wish for more BDJ events nest time!

Penny for your thoughts.

There are weird people that normal people do not get. But what is the standard of being called normal? Is it a sin to be weird? Think Van Gogh then. Perhaps you'll understand.

Something for all season.

During summer, one of the things that immediately comes into mind is swimwear. Bikinis, tankinis, one piece, bandeau, backless and so on! These clothes speak of summer, sand and skin. Yep, you heard it right - skin. In a tropical country like ours, baring and exposing your skin (not to the point of being too revealing) is but natural. That is why women and men (Yes! They, too are vain. Well narcissistic in some way hahaha) prioritize in making sure that theirs are smooth and hair-free. A reason why waxing salons are here to stay. Although waxing depends on how fast is the re-growth of your hair, people sometimes find it still expensive and, the most common reason hindi kaya mag-shorts habang patubo yung buhok, so balik sa shaving. Aminim! LOL.

I have tried waxing three years ago because of my uber long and curly (Does it spell yucky as well? haha) leg hairs. I think I inherited them from my father. Damn those unwanted genes. Anyway, because of waxing, I have maintained smooth and hair-less legs. If I have inherited those from my father, so does my sister. I think I am quite fortunate not to have hairy hair such as her. Her arms and legs are full of hair - long, thick and deadly dark. My mother thinks of it as her asset. But I totally disagree. So I suggested to my mom to let my sister try out waxing. At first she did not agree, but after many chiding she finally agreed. Phew! I thought my sister will forever live being a jungle girl.

Mom wanted to try out waxing at home, so we went to Watsons and bought Epilin Hair Remover and Waxing Strips.

Comes with a popsicle stick. I suggest you but a more sturdy spatula than this.

For first time users. Very helpful :)

The waxing strips.
WARNING: THE SUCCEEDING PART MAY CONTAIN DISTURBING PHOTOS!

I was tasked to do the waxing ceremony LOL! Because mom gets too nervous with these stuff, especially since it will my sister's first time. I read the manual and made my sister sit down on a well-lighted area. I placed the strips on my sister's underarms (We decided to have her underarms waxed first using Epilin). Then waited for a couple of minutes until I am sure that hairs have been glued to the wax. I suddenly pulled the strips which I think is effective since it immediately got the hairs. The whole process was less than 30 minutes and I guess anyone can do it (Though I advise that you have another person pull out the strips for you).

Overall, Epilin Hair Remover is a good product. It's amount can last up to 20 uses (Only for the underarms) and you can store it for future use. The consistency is similar to most hair waxes I have tried, so you are sure that hair will stick like a bubblegum. I noticed that it can attract ants, so better wipe out any excess wax that fell on the floor during the process. The only thing that bothers me is the smell. When melted, it smelled like old rose mixed with an old lady's perfume (Really makes me feel dizzy when I sniff it for too long). For the waxing strips, it is a great product. You can cut it to the desired size which saves you more bucks than hoarding a lot. The only downside I see is when you leave the strips too long on the skin, the wax will come off from the strips and remain in your skin. But that could be fixed with timing when to remove the strips from the skin.

Here are the dreaded before and after photos:

Before: I blurrred it so my sister's underarms avoid the negative criticism.
After: Some red marks which are natural and will not last long.
I have to thank Epilin for saving my sister's hairy story, so now she can have a smooth and hair-free skin not only during summer but all year round!
