Lemming: Skincare and Make-up (Partial)

I have seen so many posts about their Christmas wishlist last year. To make it different, I thought of posting my first ever wishlist - all year round. Christmas, as joyous and sparkling it can be, ends abruptly when you want Santa place something in your stockings. Why not make it a year round lemming wish? Now isn't it not making reality out of your fantasies.

I just hope that those who are reading this would not think I am in a hurry. You do have one year guys LOL!

I still need to know which variant I'll take.

From Harper's Bazaar

I fancy the powder only :)

P.S. Photos are taken in the brand's respective Facebook and websites, except for the Bobbi Brown and Dior.

'til next post!

Cheers to great years ahead!

My first post for 2012.

Kiong Hee Huat Tsai!

This is what I get for not updating frequently. I end up blogging in the middle of January and I am at lost of which story should I write first (Yung iba, sobrang outdated na kaya hindi na pwedeng i-post haha). At least this post is just in time for the Chinese New Year.

Being a born under the year of the golden horse (My mom says so!), I feel pretty psyched this year. Not only because they say horses are lucky this year but simply because I learned a new mantra in life Something which I consider as my personal 'secret'. I have to thank my boss for this, since she was the one who gave me a heads up about my new found mantra.

While on a work trip with her (in a not so faraway place), she mentioned to me about this 'secret'. It is having the mental capacity to envision the one thing that you want and thinking right then and there that you will have it. Without any doubt or worry on how it will come about. It is the power to create this positive energy to attract what you want in life. She then proceeded taking into account her own experience of this 'secret'. At that time, I was impressed - and puzzled. It was my first time hearing such idea that I could not fathom how to do it.

In the passing days, my boss would tell me how the 'secret' once again affected her. I sit and listened in awe as she narrates how the things she wants in life, some just as simple as a free coffee at Starbucks, happen like magic. The time came where I was able to watch how the idea of the 'secret' came about. However, I only managed to watch the first 20 minutes of the documentary (Baka mahuling nanonood habang office hours eh LOL). But that did not stop the 'secret' from working its power on me.

In 2009, my dad bought me a new laptop. Being careful with my things, I did not expect it to crash down because of a simple plugging error. One day while working on some papers, my battery was running low that I immediately plugged the cord. Little did I know that a power surge would happen and that it would affect my laptop. Lo and behold, white lines started to appear just below the screen of my laptop. They were small white lines that appear distorted and flickering. I immediately dialed the Philippines service hotline of my laptop to inquire on how to get it fixed, after all it was still under warranty. However, they told me they could repair my laptop for the reason that it was bought overseas (I was already cursing profanities in my mind during this time). I asked them if there are other ways for them to get it fixed; only to be answered with a emotionless - NONE.

I stopped hoping that the Philippines service center would repair my laptop. I did not want to have it repaired in shops not officially affiliated with the brand for fear of having the parts replaced with fake ones. Left with no  choice, I simply let the white lines stay.

In 2010, my laptop's case got worse. The small white lines have occupied half of my screen and its function has been reduced by 60% (I could not use most of the applications, even Microsoft). I decided to have it fixed where it was bought (Naisip ko na baka hindi naman aabot ng sobra sobra yung bill ko). I made a call via Skype (Hooray for free international calls!) and inquired about the repair. What I heard made me fall from my chair. The shipping alone costs $600 (So hindi na lang ako mag-aaral ganun?). The repair was still not covered, and although the warranty is still in effect, there are charges made for international repairs.

Okay. Goodbye laptop.

Early last year, I called one of the authorized service centers of the brand. They said the same thing to me; they do not have the technician to repair my model since it was bought elsewhere. I had my laptop lying around the house, unused for months and accumulating dust.

The inconvenience of not having my laptop back made me decide to finally take it directly to the authorized service center. I got in touch with someone who owns the same brand and had the same problem (Hers was resolved when it was brought back in Dubai). She told me that she had it checked in the Makati branch. So there I went.

I think the 'secret' was already working for me at that time. I was not rejected and had my laptop left for analysis. But I was informed that my bill would fetch up to 7,300++PhP (Kahit kalerke ang presyo, gora na. Better than sa $600 diba). This is where I tried to envision what I want: an added 5,000PhP for me to be able to pay the bill.

Days have passed and I still did not have my 5,000PhP. I just prayed that the repair would extend until next year (2012) so that I could save up for it. December came. I received a text message saying that my laptop is ready for pick-up. Feeling unhappy, I called their hotline to ask how much my bill was. What came next was super duper unexpected.

Me: I'd like to know how much is my bill?
Operator: Oh ma'am, it's free of charge.
Me: Excuse me?

Operator: There are no charges for the repair of your laptop.
Me: How about the labor charge of 2,500PhP?
Operator: The labor charge and the analysis are also free.

That got me speechless and dumbfounded. Can you imagine how my bill that was supposed to be 10k was erased. Just like that. Good thing my mind came to work again and asked how did that happen. It was found out that a recall was made on the model of my laptop. EDITED: And out of consideration, they repaired it for free! THE SECRET ACTUALLY WORKS!

So here I am writing this post on my newly repaired laptop.

I guess you want to know what this 'secret' is. It's what they call The Law of Attraction. If you have not heard about this, then you are missing on something. Search for it, on Google, in the bookstore or ask for a copy of the documentary. You might uncover the 'secret' yourself.

Let's have a toast. Cheers to the great years ahead!

'til next post.

Ciao,

Maddie
